SuperH, Inc. Joins EEMBC Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif.April 30, 2002EEMBC, the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium, today announced that SuperH, Inc. an independent world leader in 32-bit and 64-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, has become its newest member. SuperH joins EEMBC as a full member of the Consortium's Board of Directors, with full voting rights on all major issues decided by the consortium, plus full access to all of the EEMBC® benchmarks.
"SuperH has joined the industry leaders who rely on EEMBC benchmarks as a credible method of demonstrating the performance of their processor cores to customers," said Markus Levy, EEMBC president. "We look forward to the great technical contributions that SuperH will surely make as an EEMBC board member."
SuperH, Inc. was formed following an agreement between Hitachi and STMicroelectronics to create an independent company chartered with developing and licensing RISC microprocessor cores of the SuperH family and boosting their proliferation in embedded microprocessor applications. SuperH owns all intellectual property rights for SH-4 and subsequent generations of SuperH technology and focuses on developing, licensing, and supporting its intellectual property and generating revenue from license fees and royalties. The company has been fully operational since September 2001 and is working to develop, support, and promote the SuperH architecture with emphasis on the growing embedded applications market. The company recently announced the availability of the SH-5 64-bit RISC core for licensing.
"EEMBC benchmarks are an excellent tool for helping designers and their companies determine the architecture that is best for their situation. The wide range of applications targeted by the EEMBC benchmarks highlight many key markets for our 32-bit and 64-bit IP cores," said Rick Chapman, vice president of marketing and sales for SuperH, Inc. "We are proud to be members of EEMBC and look forward to actively participating in furthering the EEMBC benchmarks as important criteria for processor choice."
